Attic Youth Theatre

Mitcham’s creative community for ages 13-18.

Attic Youth Theatre is a new creative programme for young people who live, study, or spend time in and around Mitcham. Working alongside professional artists and practitioners, the weekly workshops give young people a space to build confidence and gain new skills; everything from acting to backstage production. Participants will make friends, find their creative voice, and tell the stories that matter to them in an end of year production.

Over the course of the year, participants explore both performance and technical theatre skills:

  • Acting & Performance: Script work, improvisation, narrative devising, and character development.
  • Stagecraft: Voice technique, movement, ensemble work, and essential theatre stagecraft.
  • Behind the Scenes: Practical experience in lighting, sound, AV systems, producing, and stage management.

  • Who: Young people aged 13–18 who live, study, or spend time in Mitcham and Merton.
  • When: Mondays, 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM (Autumn Term: 21st September – 30th November)
  • Where: North East Mitcham Community Association (NEMCA), CR4 2DZ
  • Cost: £3 per weekly session (First session is free)
  • Financial Support: Full bursaries are available to ensure cost is not a barrier to joining.
  • Extras: Snacks provided at every session.

 

Attic Youth Theatre is open to all experience levels, from complete beginners to experienced performers. Young people are invited to come along to a free taster session to meet the team and try out the workshops.
