As part of the borough’s Cultural Impact Award programme, We Are Merton Performance Trail brings six new, community-centred performances to the streets, parks, and town centres you pass through every day. Taking place across Summer 2027, this ambitious project invites residents and artists to come together to celebrate our collective heritage, local identity, and the people who make this borough home.
Merton Odyssey explores what it means to belong, taking inspiration from the classic idea of a journey home. The original pieces will take place in accessible public spaces across Merton’s town centres, inviting neighbouring communities to gather, watch, and celebrate local stories.
Over six weekends, across six town centres, six interconnected performances will unfold – each distinct, but weaving a single, shared story across the entire borough in a dynamic fusion of theatre, dance, music, art and much more…

Through Attic Theatre Company’s Community Dramaturgy approach, residents aren’t just an audience, you are the creators, storytellers, and performers. Alongside professional artists, we’ll be calling out to local people to get involved and shape every aspect of the work, ensuring we reflect the real experiences and rich diversity of our Merton community.
