Did you know…Attic is a charity?

Attic Theatre Company is a small-scale arts organisation based in Mitcham, South London for the past 30 years!

As a not-for-profit organisation all our income goes into delivering our work, increasing the cultural provision in our area and benefitting our community. Contributing to a thriving cultural offer in the borough is key to who we are.

We do two this in two ways:

  • Commission and produce new theatre. We work with leading writers, creatives and artists, and a variety of partners to make relevant and high-quality work which tours to lots of different locations. You’re as likely to see us in a library or park as a theatre or arts centre, working with award-winning writers and early-career professionals.

  • Develop and deliver a vibrant and varied participatory programme, centred in our borough of Merton. We focus on working with young people and older people, running weekly workshops as well as one-off summer schools and short courses with a whole host of incredible partners, including local schools, the NHS ICB, the Merton Memory Hub, Mitcham Town Community Trust, Green Arts Centre, St. Mark’s Academy, Mitcham. In the surrounding areas, we work with Sutton & District Training and CARAS (Community Action for Refugees and Asylum Seekers) in Tooting.

Attic believes in the power of stories and creativity; that telling your own story or bearing witness to another’s enhances people’s lives in big and small ways. We produce new work which educates. enriches, surprises, entertains and inspires.
